Four hours later Dharma woke up in her own bed, calling for her mommy.
“What happened?” Dharma asked Prana. “Why didn’t they take me to the fair?”
“Honey, you wouldn’t wake up,” Prana said sadly. “Not even for Boppy.”
“It’s not fair!” screamed Dharma. “Why didn’t they wait?! I would have waited for them!”
“No, honey, it’s not fair to Dawn and her family,” said Prana. “They would have missed half of the day at the fair if they had waited for you.”
“I feel sick mommy,” cried Dharma. “My tummy hurts and I’m so sad and mad. I wish I was at the fair.”
Dharma drank her mint tea and sniffled her tears back, while Prana rubbed her tummy.
After a while, Dharma sat up and felt better.
“Dawn has a nightmare picture mommy,” said Dharma. “And she talks to Kooky Teacher Shamana –you-you about it, and she gets a big fairy pop after she sees her.”
“That’s nice,” said Prana.
“Mommy, I have nightmares too.“ said Dharma. “And I don’t ever want to go to sleep because I’m afraid the big meaner monster is going to get me. Mommy I’m so tired. I’m always so tired.” Dharma finished with a big yawn.
Then Dharma started to cry, and then she started to hiccup…because some fairies hiccup when they cry. Dharma’s mommy scooped her up, held her in a fairy wrap and rocked her slowly. She hummed the “Sunshine” song and stroked Dharma’s hair until she stopped crying and hiccupping.
“I think it’s time you and I visit Teacher Shaman-A-Nee Naw Hey Hey,” said Prana.
“No, I don’t want to. Can’t YOU just go see her?” hiccupped Dharma.
“Honey she’s really nice and she will help you get rid of the nightmares. Besides you get a huge fairy pop when you’re done. I think you will really like her,” said her mommy.
Dharma thought for a minute about how scared she was.
“Are you going to be there?” asked Dharma.
“Yes, I’ll be there the whole time. Do you think I’d let you get a big fairy pop yourself? I’m hoping for a purple one. I hear her fairy pops are magical and as soon as you start licking them you feel better,” said Prana. “Besides, you know where she lives?”
“No, where?” asked Dharma.
“She lives in the mystery house down magic lane,” said Prana.
“Kooky Teacher Shamann-a-yippy “ hiccup “lives in the old mystery house?” asked Dharma.
“Yes, isn’t that fun?” said Prana. “Don’t you want to go to the house just to see what’s inside?”
“WOW,“ HICCUP “I’ve always wanted to go into the mystery house on Magic Lane,” said Dharma
“So you’ll go?” asked Dharma’s mommy.
“Yes, but only if you promise to be with “ HIC “with” HIC “with” hic “ with me the whole time,” said Dharma.
“I’ll be there if you hold my hand,” said Prana.
Then Dharma took her mommies hand and smiled her nervous smile.
