“Besides, I’ll tell mommy that I played with you guys instead. Cause you know Sharie never shares her treats and she always has to be first, she never lets me play with her Mister lady bug pet, and she’s not nice and she made me cry last time. “
Dharma reached out for Miss Ladybug and said, “Want to play Miss Lady bug?”
Dharma threw Miss Lady bug up in the air until she thought Miss Lady bug would throw up. Then like so many other times before, she laid back and stared up at the clouds falling asleep with Miss Lady bug wrapped up in her wings.
Every night, Dharma did her homework with mommy or her daddy….and sometimes fell asleep on her books. Just as her daddy, SoHum, tried to lift her up to put her to bed, she would always wake up and want to play.
“Let’s play ummm, toilet tag!!!” Dharma said yawning barely opening her eyes.
“Just as soon as you take a long nap….in your bed….” Said SoHum yawning himself.
But just as soon as they got to her bed, Dharma would be wide awake and ready to play.
Most nights Dharma went to her room, but she drew pictures and made lists of what she wanted for her birthday instead of getting her room ready for bed or doing yoga stretches.
“I want a new butterfly doll, and a new ladybug doll baby for Miss Lady bug, and weird dress up clothes for my lady bug doll, and …”
….and sometimes she just fell asleep on her drawings. Waking up, she looked in the mirror, and her face would be all marked up with colors on her cheeks and on her teeth from her crayons. It looked like someone threw up rainbow on her face.
Her mommy gave her the Chamomile tea for relaxing. But when no one was looking, Dharma would sneak it to Boppy instead. Boppy was named Boppy because when he flew he looked like he was bopping to his favorite music.
Every night, she snuck a piece of her favorite chocolate cake with chocolate icing, which made her very much awake.
At 7pm Prana or SoHum, would come in to read her a bedtime story. They found each night that they had to get a new lightning bug, because Boppy would fall asleep and their lights would dim while in the middle of the story.
At 7:30 pm, she put her pajamas on and she put her big lightning bug to sleep. Then she snuck her baby lightning bug to bed with her, just so she could play shadow games until she fell asleep.
At 6:30 am Prana would call, “Dharma it’s time to get up.”
“Just 5 more minutes,” Dharma would call back. “I promise I’ll get up then.”
But she wouldn’t budge until 10 minutes before school started. …so she had absolutely no time to get ready and she would go to school with a messy bed head, her wings would be crumply, and she sometimes had unmatching shoes on…oops!
Why is it so hard to wake Dharma up in the morning? Prana asked herself. And where is all the chocolate cake going? We must have fairy mice or something.
