“Why am I more tired now?” thought Dharma.
….and sometimes she would fall ASLEEP at her desk.
On her way back to her desk from the fairy dust closet, sometimes she would float about an inch off of the ground and bump into everything. She had to grab onto desks, book shelves, and even other fairies so she could stay up just right. Nobody really noticed because it was game time. At game time nobody was quiet or stayed at their desks. At game time they would play “who stole the tooth?”, “where is the tooth?”, “hide the funny money”, “disappear and reappear” or just plain old “catch”.
Nobody noticed but Dharma’s friend Dawn. She took one look at her and knew exactly what she had been up to.
“You were in the fairy closet again weren’t you?” asked Dawn crossing her arms.
“No I wasn’t. What do you mean? Fairy dust, what fairy dust?” asked Dharma holding onto her desk trying to look normal.
“You’re floating! And you have blue fairy dust all over your face,” said Dawn with a mad look. “What is that on your arm?”
“Oh yeah, I accidentally floated through the blueberry catch game and I got hit,” said Dharma.
“You are SO clumsy,” said Dawn rolling her eyes.
“Please help me sit down Dawn, my butt keeps going up,” asked Dharma looking like she on a moving tightrope.
Dawn grabbed Dharma’s shirt and pulled her down to her chair. Dharma wrapped her legs around the chair legs to keep herself from floating up again.
“Dawn please don’t tell. I get so hungry and it gives me more energy,” said Dharma.
Dawn was mad because Dharma lied to her but she didn’t want Dharma to get into trouble.
“OK, I won’t tell. But you have to stop,” said Dawn.
“How’s my tongue?” asked Dharma.
Dharma stuck out her tongue and Dawn screamed, “EEEWWWWW! Your tongues blue.”
“Yeah, it gets blue if I eat too much. I guess I ate too much,” said Dharma giggling.
“It looks nasty, does it taste nasty?” asked Dawn.
“It’s not bad. At first it tasted like how Finch’s dusty dirty socks might taste, but now it tastes more like my mommies bean sprout dip,” said Dharma.
“YUCK!” said Dawn.
“Yeah, but you get used to it,” said Dharma. “I wonder if the blue fairy dust tastes different than the gold and red fairy dust.”
“Dharma you need to stop! I heard your fingernails will turn blue and you could go cross eyed if you eat too much fairy dust!” said Dawn. “Promise me you will stop!”
“I promise,” said Dharma. But Dharma was crossing her fingers behind her back so Dawn couldn’t see. Then they hugged each other, and everything was OK for them again.
